(11,213 posts)We are divided. Ignoring that fact will not win any more elections. One of the things that could have won us the election would have been if people had united around the party nominee. Those people who did not - the ones you mention here that won't let go of the primary - need to come to understand the principle of solidarity. Had Bernie won the primary, I would have done just as much for his election as I did for Hillary. I would not have spent the months of May thru November grousing and bashing our candidate. Others here did not do that for our candidate. I don't know about your experience, but I went to several party events in October where some in attendance were still bashing Hillary with the RW and RT smears, trying to convince people to "send a message" to the Party that "we won't stand for this". I can only imagine how many undecided voters they convinced not to vote for Hillary.
If you want unity, you must give unity. If we don't teach that now (and you can't do that by pretending the divide doesn't exist) we will do the same stupid thing in 2020. The problem won't go away by ignoring it.
