with the fruits of their slaves unpaid labor for years without even thinking of some kind of compensation.

Only in a cartoon right . . . oh wait . . . that's what happened in real life, and it went on for centuries and then the enslaved people were cast out without a penny and told you're free — and you're on your own with just the clothes on your back. This is actually what happened and where many African American families had to pull themselves up from.

Think of the compounding effect of even a-dollar-an-hour of centuries of unpaid, dawn-to-dusk labor of hundreds of thousands of enslaved workers who got not a penny of it.

At just at a dollar an hour to pay that amount back to descendants would bankrupt the US Treasury, but even speaking of reasonable, affordable reparations in the form of college tuition, business grants, job training, community improvement programs — no checks cut to individuals — is wa-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-y off limits. Not possible, can't do it, don't even think of going there.
