11. Contrary to what the story says, the DOJ is not an "independent agency."

The FCC is an independent agency. The SEC is an independent agency. The DOJ is an executive branch department and the AG is a member of the President's cabinet (and serves at the pleasure of the President). Legally, there is a big difference.

That being said, there is a tradition, which presidents occasionally fail to follow, of maintaining a greater degree of separation between DOJ and the White House than is the case with other executive branch departments.
