24. Attend a golf tournament and nothing will surprise you

Nothing in those galleries but SAMs, the Simplistic Angry Males. They put Trump in office and refuse to believe anything he does is less than perfectly brilliant. I just spent 4 days walking the course at the Players Championship at Sawgrass. You'll never wonder how Trump was elected if you're in that company. There are still Make America Great Again hats and bumper stickers all over the place. Stand greenside for any length of time and you'll be treated to Pro Trump propaganda and fascination.

I'm reminded of an episode from the original Star Trek. There was a parallel universe with an evil Kirk and virtually uncontrolled power. The evil captain had an erase button in his suite. He could literally vaporize anyone on screen with a touch of that button. That's what Donald Trump views as proper. He'd never stop using that button. And I'm convinced he'll come as close as possible, given the powers he does have. We're very early in the firing stages, the abuse stages. I would never underestimate Donald Trump's audacity. That's why I'm not overly excited about recent developments. Too many people are looking at it from a traditional perspective, that doing X and Y has to lead to trouble Z. Not in this case. Republicans have been electing SAMs to high office for more than a decade. Those golf types want someone like this in charge. This is their glory. I heard one guy on Saturday alongside the 15th green chortle that Trump, "hasn't even started to tear down Washington," followed by a gleeful, "just wait until he does."
