5. Nikki Haley, governor of South Carolina. Haley is the first woman to serve as governor of South Carolina and the second Indian-American governor in the country. At 40, she is also the youngest current governor in the country. Haley signed a law cracking down on illegal immigration and checks many of boxes in terms of tea party enthusiasm. However, as mentioned, she's been in office just 18 months. And for all of her charisma and star power, Haley could generate some distractions for the Romney campaign, given accusations that she was involved years ago in an extra-marital affair, allegations Haley has denied.
