but
if charged with a criminal act, he can be impeached and THEN tried.
Nixon knew that, so made a deal to resign, with no impeachment, thus no criminal charges.
Trump tends to threaten and bluster and try to attack back, but once he realizes he can't win, he usually gives in. Surely by now someone has told him he has limited options.
