2. I got almost $300 from unclaimed property in Florida.

It was from a premium I overpaid over ten years ago. I didn't know how it was going to go but the state simply sent me a check last year. I didn't have to go to a notary or anything.

Florida calls it a treasure hunt and local news stations regularly promote it.
