I spent two years of high school there.

My AP history babysitter (won't call him a teacher, I learned nothing from him other than to spot the crazy) spent most of the first quarter, and a lot of time after, lecturing on Bo Gritz, the New World Order, FEMA camps, and the likelihood that the Mormons were going to save the world by being prepared with a year's supply of food in every home and the Dream Mine, and that all of us unclean, dirty gentiles (i.e. Me, and one other kid in my class) were going to volunteer to be slaves for a can of beans.

I spent a lot of time in the vice-principal's office that year, and eventually went to the school board. That shut down the conspiracy theory lectures for the rest of the school year, but I had to contest every single grade, and he still tried to fail me. (The Veep interfered on my behalf.) The next school year, he went right back to it.

That was in the late 80s, before Waco, the Murrah building, or Ruby Ridge. That shit runs deep.
