9. True. Then again, I think many Americans missed the boat on Iran.

Really, what happened there was classic "blowback", as the CIA calls it, to our interference and overthrow of their legitimately elected government back in 1953.

Most people in the United States have no idea what Operation AJAX was, or what it did, or why the Iranian government is so hostile to us. But ask anyone who is from Iran, and I guarantee you they know all about it.

In 1979, the concept of blowback wasn't as easily defined - our constant meddling in other countries' governments hadn't yet come back to bite us in the ass.
