(37,748 posts)Moe once chopped off one of Larry's legs when they were travelling to El Dorado. Curly thought it was funny. So did I. I think Chaucer would have as well. It was part and parcel of the early twentieth century slap-stick shtick.
Longinus, Brutus and others were portrayed to have not merely cut off Ceasar's head, but his fingers, toes and genitalia as well. It was part and parcel of the Classical Elizabethan Literature shtick.
Doom paintings of the middle ages were much more crass, grotesque and monstrous than anything Ms. Griffin has ever done. It was part and parcel of the Last Judgment in Christian eschatology shtick.
But then again, I don't pretend to posses a righteous and absolute moral authority, and project that judgement onto what is, by definition, mere Juvenalian satire. Seems to be part and parcel of a newly discovered "Concern shtick" by the very ones who yet cheer on Beavis & Butthead as socially relevant and full of humor... to better illustrate how enlightened their own humor really is.
