(67,112 posts)129. Those were different times, weren't they. I always thought of "Ike" as OK. My
father was a strong democratic politician back then, but he had lots of republican friends/politicians. They used to work together to try to come up with something manageable/workable for all. Now, it's totally different.
I think many republicans of that era are long gone and IMO democrats today are far different than back then. No, it was not perfect, but it seems politicians then realized we had to get along together as one country working for everyone.
