What seemed like a bullet-proof platform for the ages in 1994 was all but dead by 2004 and in 2006 they were directed to replace it with a high-availability Linux based platform. Now they're just trying to get the original vendor which is several mergers deep to just rebuild the original application for Intel based Linux which is what everyone wanted to do a decade ago but instead it was put out for bids and three successive vendors have failed at reinventing the wheel.

Meanwhile they're buying parts on eBay to keep the existing hardware running.
