(83 posts)Most people vote in a way that they believe best advances their personal interests. Maybe your friend doesn't view a Trump presidency as a threat to his interests. Obviously the Trump admin isn't going to advance very many gay friendly policies, lest they offend whatever part of the evangelical vote they managed to capture, but from what I've seen it doesn't seem like anti-gay stuff is even on their radar. I'm a gun owner and a vocal 2A advocate, but I always vote Democrat because even though gun control is something I oppose and the Democrat party is for the most part very pro-gun control, I don't think the Democrats really intend to do any substantial work on gun control, and the rest of the party's platform is very appealing to me. I have other pro-gun friends who know that I'm a Democrat, and they have the same difficulty reconciling my feelings about guns and my politics as you seem to be having reconciling your friend's homosexuality with his politics, but they certainly don't avoid me over it. I think you should re-consider scrubbing this man from your circle of friends.
