If There Are SCOTUS Retirements Soon, [View all]

as some are predicting, we will discover just how big a mistake we made in November of 2016, and we will feel the excruciating pain that mistake will have caused. This is what so many knowledgeable, experienced Democrats warned everyone about well before the election. Too many Democrats and other progressives ignored them and we failed to carry enough states to defeat Donald Trump.

If Trump gets to name a couple more Justices, we are going to know what it means to wail and gnash our teeth. We could have prevented this from happening. We should have prevented it from happening. We did not prevent it from happening, and we may soon understand how important 2016 truly was for the future.

We were warned. Some of us were helping to warn everyone about the consequences of Republicans winning control of all three branches of federal government. But we didn't pay enough attention and let a few issues keep us from following through and electing a Democrat as President, while losing even more legislative seats in Congress and our state legislatures.

We don't deserve what may happen, but we certainly earned it. I'm sorry, but this is just righteously frustrating at this time. This situation was preventable, but we did not prevent it. Shame on us all!
