(14,249 posts)As silly as it sounds to be telling someone that I know white people - most black people know plenty of white people since we don't have the luxury of going through life limiting our interactions to people who look like us, so we usually don't have to resort to the "some of my best friends are white" justification for our views - I'll tell you that I have many white friends of all socio-economic classes. In fact, I have several (at least a couple dozen right off the top of my head) in my family. Most of my white family are middle-class, but several are working class and a few are poor.
Now I'll return the question. Do you have any black friends? I don't mean black people you happened to work with. I mean black people who come to your home when you have a few friends over, whose homes you've socialized in more than once, who would call you for help if their kid was stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire.
If so, have you ever discussed race with them? Have they shared any of their experiences with you?
