(43,850 posts)There's a pretty good trope in psychology that there are two kinds of people in stressful situations, those who turn their emotions outward and those who turn them inward. The saying goes "Depression is rage turned inward."
I think people who are attracted to the Democratic Party tend to turn inward, to wonder what they (we) did wrong, how we can do better, etc. Those pulled toward being Republican, and in particular the kind of Republican that lets the fool in the WH get away with what he does, turn their anger outward and blame others. They feel wronged and they're fed up and they want to inflict pain, physical or psychological.
Bring those two together and you end up with all the negative attention focused on Dems. Only when the introspective types combine that introspection
with a no-negotiation set of standards can we find value in pushing forward hard enough to get things done in spite of being lambasted by the ragers.
