The problem, though isn't Justice Kennedy. He probably has good reasons for retiring, if he does do that. The problem is that we have a President who will select his replacement and who is a complete jerk. He will appoint someone who will seek to punish Americans, not protect them.

We knew, or should have known, that if Trump got into the White House, he would have opportunities to appoint Supreme Court justices during his term in office. Many people warned of that, but some sat out the election or voted for third party candidates. In just three states, that resulted in the electoral college vote going to Trump.

Justice Kennedy, if he resigns, knows all that, but may have excellent personal reasons for resigning at this time. I cannot blame him. I blame those who let Trump win. That is where blame should be attached, very frankly.
