196. You may see them as kind and gentle

but the fact is that they knowingly and openly voted for hate.

They don't mind someone mocking a disabled person

They don't mind someone advocating violence against people they disagree with (at his rallies).

They don't mind open racism.

They don't mind open hatred of LGBT+ people.

They don't mind simple hate of anyone who isn't white, straight, and Christian.

This doesn't make them good people. It shows who they really are under the veneer of "kind and gentle" and it isn't pretty.

I have relatives like this and I sit at gatherings and I keep to myself. The masks have been taken off of these people who I used to think were basically decent and now, I know who they really are, so I am cordial and polite, but I do not trust them one bit, knowing that they have so much hate inside them.
