2. The integrity of elections is critical, but

Don't think paper ballots are the solution. I grew up when it was common for ballot boxes to disappear, Klansmen counting ballots for the benefit of guess who, or just stupid people who can't count doing it. But if paper ballots are one thing it takes to make people feel safe, I'm fine with it.

I think the actual balloting is fairly safe -- recognizing tallies can be manipulated just like paper ballots -- but the gerrymandering, voter rolls, ID BS, etc., can be manipulated to keep people from voting or make it more difficult. Post above is a good point too. As long as GOPers run everything, we'll never trust the process. Of course, if we are control, they'll never trust it.
