Is it possible that this is homophobia at play, assuming the accounts are accurate? Sure. I have a feeling though that if this was happening with LGBT couples with any regularity, we wouldn't be hearing just one account on a blog. And if this happens to be the first time someone raised it and it HAS been happening a lot, we will here other folks say "me too".
