In reply to the discussion: ********BREAKING******* SUSAN COLLINS IS A NO [View all]Kleveland
(1,257 posts)77. Just curious, am I missing something?
I think that working to improve the existing ACA makes total sense, (hence it seemingly impossible).
I think that a GOP congress critter making such an open minded statement regarding said improvement is basically a good thing.
I don't seem to have any recollection of the Democrats making loud and obvious statements or gestures about the possibility or concept of working to improve the ACA with the Republican critters.
Has there been any statements by the Democrats regarding this possibility that I have missed?
As much as I detest the GOP as it is, a bi-partisan effort that would be actually good for the citizens of the US would be something that should be welcomed by all.
Fix, don't replace would be a nice slogan!

It would be poetic justice if three GOP female GOPers would say no. And then insist that they be

Yes, now is the time for Democrats to reach out to her. You are absolutely correct.

Yes, why didn't she try to work with the Dems in 2009 when the ACA was being crafted???

As I recall, she allowed a considerable time of speculation that she might break ranks...

Will McConnell still bring this bill to the floor if he knows there aren't the votes for it?

That's what I noted below. There probably is a bunch of secret no votes who may come out...

That sounds about right. Could prove embarrassing if it comes up for a vote and fails. n/t

Good for her! Maybe this will get those on the fence to vote no and soundly defeat this bill.
