(888 posts)People are people, being in New York City for over 30 years, where most people stereotype, including me.
It's not racism, in a way it's ignorant, but that's how New York deals with a massive amount of diversity. You know what to expect, but you respond only to what's happening in front of you. My point being exactly your point, with a few modifications. His black friends cannot accept his differing opinion, which is understandable, but where it becomes a problem is total intolerance that he has different opinion, again understandable (how can he suffer what I'm living through and not have the same opinion).
I don't know but, I think the most sexist people in the world are women, Archie Bunkers are there but fewer and farther between, and mostly Republican nowadays. A lot of people didn't vote for Hillary because they said they couldn't stand her, is that sexist, you might ask, but we don't know if it's very dangerous to assume one is doing it because sexism. But we can know in a big group. A lot of them are. But not all.
And that brings me to my point, nothing is absolute, perceived victimhood is worse than the crime. Think war on Christmas, Christians being oppressed in America, both sides do it.
