(15,377 posts)Even if we assume that Russia managed to hack enough voting machines to swing the election, which of course we actually have no evidence for, that would not constitute a coup. A coup is a military overthrow of a government, where the military involved is the military of the country itself.
Instead we have an administration that won an election while receiving campaign support from a foreign power. That support may in fact have violated numerous laws, and members of the Trump campaign team may very well be getting indicted for those crimes. Still not a coup. In fact, as the election results were certified, Trump is the legally elected president of the USA.
I'm all for indicting the crap out of everyone on the Trump team including Trump, on the off chance that this would embarrass the GOP into the impeachment that is the only remedy to this situation, but I'm not counting on that.
Instead, I'm looking at the long decline across the board of the Democratic Party, and I've concluded that continuing the same stunted centrist messaging of the last 20 years will produce the same dismal results. The party has to change.
