10. "men are expected to adhere to a suit-and-tie dress code too"

I presume if men have to wear a suit and tie, that means not going coatless, and certainly not having your sleeves rolled up or tie loosened. So the overt misogyny argument loses steam here if guys are also prevented from showing a bit of skin in the warmer weather, too.

To me, it sounds like a see-we're-way-more-professional-than-that-last-guy sort of thing.

But, to be honest, I've never understood why open-toed shoes fall outside of most "professional attire" dress codes in the first place.
