6. I don't think it's irreversible

I have several longtime friends who are conservative and very educated. Talking to some of them today is COMPLETELY different than doing so several years ago. A friend of mine who is community leader and looms large in local Democratic Party issues agrees. She says they are different people.

If the opportunity arises, I'm engaging people in my circle. I've actually been able to soften the hardcore party stance of two of them so far. I've found that it is possible. But you need to be able to point out some Democratic shortcomings to get them to let you in.

Sure, some cannot be reached. But I think it's unwise to lump all of them into the same basket.
