28. I always thought it was just a bad dye job

prompted by his hubris.

Many men, when left on their own, don't do very well with their hair. Trump doesn't take direction from anybody on anything, thus the ridiculous neck ties and the crazy hair.

My favorite postal clerk, when undergoing his midlife crisis, dyed his hair from gray to brown. However, in the process, he dyed half his face and couldn't get it off. When I walked into the post office that morning, I couldn't stop laughing and literally had to put my face on the counter with tears rolling out of my eyes. Fortunately we had the kind of relationship that could withstand that type of reaction.

However, your post brings up some fascinating possibilities. I didn't know any of this about the mother.

Trump's hair, though, don't you think, is actually white? It's his face that's orange, and I presume that is because of the fake tanning stuff he uses.

In regard to this: "he must have distressed her for decades before she died in 1990 at 88."

It could very well be. I always think of this book:
https://www.amazon.com/Dont-Want-Live-This-Life/dp/0449911411/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1500211180&sr=1-1&keywords=Sid+and+Nancy

which I read many, many years ago, and which tells what happened in the Sid & Nancy relationship as seen by her mother. The beginning part of the book relates how Nancy was hmmm, shall we say, problematic, from her moment of birth.

Some people are just born presenting problems and challenges to others. I'm thinking Trump just might be one of those people.
