55. If they can do that to a tiny, defenseless little kitten...

...I shudder to imagine what they can do to a fellow human being. It seems like you have to kill a piece of yourself in order to contemplate that. My soul is already seared from learning how people in Auschwitz and Tuol Sleng were tortured, but this horrific act still managed to get to me.

My wife and I took in a few stray cats (some of whom were abandoned and possibly abused by former caregivers) and made sure they all had a forever home with lots of love and attention, so this story affects me on another level, too.
