"And so you literally had people who had spent 20, 25 years thinking and plotting about how to stop Hillary Clinton suddenly in charge of a half-billion-dollar presidential campaign led by a candidate who is more than willing to carry out those attacks."

So $0.5B there.

Judicial Watch: yearly budget $35M (wikipedia). Over 20 years: $0.7B

Government Accountability Institute (published Bannon smear books). At least $5M / yr. Mercer, Koches, Franklin Center each gave $1-2M in chunks. Since 2012: $25M.

You can try to sum up the money spent by G Conway, Peter Smith, Kenneth Starr, etc. But I'll leave those out.

So total funds spent attacking the Clintons - at least ONE BILLION DOLLARS over 20 years. And that doesn't count Robert Safire's or Maggie Haberman's salaries at the NYT.
