that she is home and screening calls ( or 'I'm probably home but really busy right now so leave a message" ) and that might end the worry?

Let some guy with a burly voice create the message.

My cousin who raises Great Danes had a message that said "We're not home - but the dogs are!" followed by some very loud and menacing barking.
