They have to pay in 2018 and 2020 and beyond for endorsing him. They chose him, over 16 of their best, to represent the RepubliCON party. (They have a shallow team.)

Plus McCONnell is deep into Trump-Russia (denied Merrick Garland vote, blocked telling state election commissions about the hacks, etc.).
