5. The catholic church has taken it big time, financially.

Many years ago I worked at the same law firm as the attorney who was the first in the world to get a verdict against them in a civil sex-abuse case. It was only the first of many. The church has lost hundreds of millions in these cases. True, only a few priests have gone to the slammer, but the church has taken a huge financial hit.
