(11,204 posts)be paid for lodging and per diem. An employee should be responsible for any lodging charges that exceeds the GSA rate. It would be interesting to do a FOI request to find out exactly what Trump's various companies are charging the government.
I work of a State Agency and have prepared hundreds of travel claims and we have to adhere to the GSA rates. The exception is if it is an approved conference and you stay at a conference approved hotel and then you can exceed the GSA rates. I woudl believe that Trump vacationing at any of his properties should not qualifiy other government employees for payments above the GSA rates.
Now I don't think for one minute that Trump's properties are charging only the GSA rates because he is too greedy. But imagine what is most likely being charged over and above those rates. It is a valid issue to raise with your US Senators and Republicans, particularly for those who talk about too much government spending.
