It's a reality and plenty of scout(er)s haven't figured out how to reconcile friendly, courteous, kind with "God hates <insert whatever>." I'd argue that by it's own rules it can't be political, and this stunt was a clear violation of BSA policy.
Here's a question I puzzle over though: There seems to be a distinct portion of society that views "biased," "partisan" and "political" as synonyms for "not agreeing with me." In that light I doubt they even see the problems this will cause for liberal scouts and scouters (yes, they do exist.)
