9. As long as Ryan and McConnell whistle past the graveyard, I don't know what can be done

I'm neither a legal nor political expert.

What I do know is that at some point, it will fall on "Republican leadership" to take action, because since the Democrats are not in the majority, there is nothing they can do in a manner which will produce results.

Democrats can "call for" an unlimited number of actions to take place, and only the "Republican leadership" has the power to act on them.

That said, I don't accept the word "helpless" in any area of my life.

Maybe Trump just needs to run the train so completely off the rails that he flips large chunks of his base.

If we take back the majority in 2018, he's hobbled for the remainder of his first term.

If Republicans hold onto the majority, it's two more years of Ryan and McConnell checking things off of their bucket lists. And after tax cuts for the rich and gutting ObamaCare and the "safety net," what's left?

And realize THIS...if McConnell has his TrumpCare vote today and it PASSES, there's a backdoor deal-in-waiting for every faction he had to appease to get the votes. The "Freedom Caucus" turned their backs on the Ryan bill because it wasn't "extreme enough." These are not team players. If they concede in the moment, it is only because they have been promised something bigger in the long run.
