The answer to the title question is "no." The answer to the question in the message body is "yes."

In other words, if Pence had a sudden epiphany and came to his senses, totally reversed his political ideology, and announced to the public that he was leaving the Republican Party and becoming a Democrat, he could single-handedly save our nation from the systematic destruction it's going through now.

But if he does, he probably should advise the Secret Service first.

P. S. - George W. Bush apparently didn't know this because he once made a casual comment about whether he would decide to keep Dick Cheney as his vice president.

P. P. S. - The president and vice president don't have to belong to the same party. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican but his vice president was a Democrat.
