(59,318 posts)McCain makes a rousing, emotional speech about partisanship blocking the Senate's work, and how the Senate is there to do the people's business, and is equal to, rather than beholden to, the president, and then tows the line like a good little junior turtle on a leash, and votes for the beginning of the end of health coverage for tens of millions of Americans. While he is getting the best care available for a disease that has no cure, he voted to pave the way to deny coverage, and thus treatment, to millions that will be afflicted with conditions that ARE curable--IF treated.
If not ONE Democrat voted with McCain, you'd think he'd get the hint, after the speech he made. But the speech is what McCain wants to be remembered by. Too bad. His vote is what he'll be remembered by. When courage was needed, he backed down.
