(58,785 posts)The White House and cabinet are almost entirely stuffed with Republicans, although, true, a majority are Koch alliance and Mercer agents (as are much of Congress and the Republican Party leadership). Even Bannon and his nasty little group are identified with the GOP, though may technically not be part of it.
Then there're opportunist swindler Rump, who couldn't explain what Republican is if you put a gun to his head, and his large percentage of Republican voters, most particularly his personality cultists--the Republican base. And those last are why Rump currently very much also defines the Republican Party, even though the Kochists will win this civil war and almost certainly provide the next, new demagogue for a base eager to be suckered.
Which, of course, brings us to the next act of this tragedy, although imo the tragedy is that they didn't all kill each other off in an earlier play.
