In reply to the discussion: Condi is rumored to be a top pick for Romney VP [View all]Romulox
(25,960 posts)16. I think there is a very good chance Condi is the pick. Those who say it's impossible
(due to race) misread the politics of this matter.
The fact is, the Republican Party is the party of international capital and entrenched wealth. To the extent the Republicans deal in racial identity, it is an element of control over the plebes. The reason the Condi pick is so compelling is that it helps short-circuit the this precise narrative--i.e. that the Republicans are the "white guy" party.
I think Condi is Romney's Veep; it's "triangulation" at its very core.

I think she appeals to moderates more than anyone else in the picture

No, she is reminder to everyone (but hardcore Rs) of 9/11 and Bush's disasterous terms.

Perhaps race isn't the primary motivating factor to the average Republican? Is that possible? nt

My thought is that the racist rubes are *controlled* by the powers that run the Republican Party.

This is a feint by the Romney camp as a feeble attempt at relieving the Bain pain. n/t

Not a chance. This is an attempt to distract the M$M from the Bain/SEC lies going into the weekend..

Pretty sure Condi is pro-choice. I hope he does it and really pisses off the RW base!

Condi was also a music major and was mentored in to her career by Madeline Albright's father!

That and the rumors of her being gay (that go back to her days at Stanford as provost).

Depends. *If* a black conservative is batshit crazy enough, they'll gladly overlook his skin.
