Very small amounts are used to prevent causing a systemic allergic reaction, but the allergen is present in measurable quantities. The quantity is very carefully controlled and standardized. If the patient is sensitive to that particular allergen, there is a visible reaction, but not a life-threatening systemic reaction. Nevertheless, the allergist always has countermeasures on hand, just in case there is a systemic reaction. It does occur, even with the minute quanitities of the allergen. You will sign a release to that effect, should you undergo that type of allergy testing.
In homeopathetic remedies, as used, the principal ingredient is not present in any quantity that can be measured. Whether you're taking it as a liquid or a pill, there's nothing there.
And, if you want to call me on my altered spelling of the word, go right ahead. Homeopathy is, indeed, pathetic. It is useless, except for lining the pockets of its practitioners.
