(37,648 posts)109. It started long before Obama. It started w/the Civil Rights Act.
But they didn't change their party registration. They just started voting conservative in the south. LBJ even said that would happen, when he signed the Act. He was right.
So those Dems became Republicans, even tho some are still registered Dems.
