He was told that going all the way to the Yalu would provoke the Chinese to get involved because of having US troops right on their border, and he didn't listen.

Kim Il Sung was defeated. North Korea was functionally nonexistent. If MacArthur had listened to Truman what was left of North Korea would be a sliver of land, if anything.
