(1,701 posts)don't get that maybe those Obama voters stayed home because they didn't like Hillary. After all, Obama beat her before. It is illogical to say on the one hand that we will never know how many Bernie supporters (not "Berners," by the way) stayed home, and at the same time to blame Bernie's supporters for Trump's victory. It would have to have been a critical mass of Bernie supporters, and I see no evidence for it. But it seems that some people are determined to blame Bernie for Trump's victory, even without any actual evidence to support that conclusion.
In addition, the fact that Hillary did win the popular vote makes it very strange to blame Bernie, rather than the Electoral College, for Trump's victory. There are many things that we need to change about the way that we elect presidents in this country, including voter suppression, unreliable voting machines, hackable voter lists, the undemocratic nature of the Electoral College, and the way that campaigns are financed. So can we please demand action on those things so that we don't face another electoral outcome like the one we faced in 2016?
