But think about it. During 8 years of Barack Obama,

1). Who the hell was Steve Bannon?

2). Who the hell was Stephen Miller?

3). Who the hell were the "alt right?"

Trump "knew" that Republicans would be "stupid enough" to fall for birtherism, so he fed the baby gator.

Trump "knew" Bannon had a following of just the kind of gullible assholes who'd vote for the "Brietbart Candidate," so he fed the baby gator.

Trump "knew" that misanthropic misfit Stephen Miller would appeal to other misanthropic misfits who would vote for him, so he fed the baby gator.

Trump "knew" the white supremacists, Klan members, and the rest, were on the far margins of society, rarely discussed, but he could "rein 'em in," get them in the headlines on almost a daily basis, then they'd vote for him, so he fed the baby gator.

And just like in "Lake Placid," where Betty White explains the "disappearance" of her husband, what we knew of America during the Obama years has been slowly disappearing as well, because Trump has been feeding the baby gator, and he's been feeding it us.

If yesterday didn't prove my point, nothing will.

And my message to Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell, who figured they'd loot and plunder under that beautiful gold-plated umbrella as they cake-walked to almost certain re-election: Now yous can't leave. After Charlottsville, you've been called upon to use the powers you were given when elected to restore America. Now yous can't leave. And face it, you'd rather be working with Pence anyway. Trump didn't do this to you. You did this to yourselves, and now Sonny has locked the door to the bar.
