(4,702 posts)For my generation, we virtually didn't even know that we were even nominally Jewish, as our parents were raised by their parents who lost siblings and other family during the Shoah. My grandparents were almost afraid to instill any kind of Jewish identify in their kids.
It is horrifying. I have ugly documents in my filing cabinet that describe what happened to my great aunt and great grandmother after their belongings were confiscated and they were "deported to the East."
These people are no different. I have no doubt, none whatsoever, that SHOULD they have the opportunity, they would not hesitate to do the same thing they did before in Germany and Poland and other countries. Yes, these are the very same people-- the exact same ones--who crawled out of the woodwork to do these unspeakable deeds in the past.
I know who they are.
