That a lot of these senators and congressmen that stick by him are coming from states and districts where Trump is still very popular. That approval rating that's in the mid to upper 30s is a nationwide approval, but in those southern and midwestern states, he's still popular.


Look at it this way. If you're a congressman in Mississippi or Oklahoma, and your district of 10,000 people is polling at 85 percent approval for Trump, are you going to distance yourself from him? It would be political suicide. You're going to embrace him all you can. The national polls that show his approval in the 30s doesn't mean squat to you, because they aren't the people casting a ballot in your reelection.
