You are right. Roosevelt and the New Deal saved their lives, and their descendants are, it seems to me, the most radical right group in the country. In 2004 my home county, Ochiltree. bragged on their website that they gave a higher percentage of votes to Bush than any county in the country. I've lived in Georgia since 1963, feel the plains are far more conservative than the South.
