Before the dust settled from the murder of Heather Heyer and just after the arrest of the murderer, police said the driver was "afraid he would be attacked by the counter protestors" and that was why he ran over the crowd. Video proves that was a lie - he was not being attacked at all before he accelerated INTO the crowd. AFTER he ran over people some of the crowd were trying to stop him from leaving but he sped in reverse and ran over some of the people he'd already hit. THEN there were counter protestors trying to chase him down to prevent him from leaving the scene of the crime.

The police STILL claimed that the murder was afraid for his life. They have yet to back down on those bogus statements.
