the democrats just accept that narrative and never push back, instead going so far as to be apologists for the media, as if acting like they are actually our 4th estate watchdogs will somehow ingratiate that corporate mouthpiece to us. This is why some people sometimes question whether or not Democrats are just the good cop in a big charade. They don't challenge the narrative. They help to enforce it.
It would be so fucking easy to kill this mythology if they weren't afraid to call out the big money. I mean, does it actually make sense that big corporations would be in the business of trying to get people who will regulate and tax them more than republicans, elected? This is shit even conservative voters would experience cognitive dissonance over if it were actually thrown in their face. I've seen the confusion when I've challenged them on this point, and at least so far, there's not even been an attempt at a retort.
