on the ballot in the next General Election. That's what I have done for 50 years now. Will you?
I will vote for the Democrat, because the Republican on that ballot has few to none of my interests at heart. I will vote for a rabid, left-wing Democrat or a moderate Democrat. Whoever wins the primary will get my vote. Every last freaking time. During the primary, I will work for and campaign for the candidate I prefer, but once there is a General Election candidate on the ballot, the Democrat will always get my vote and my support. That has been my pledge since I first voted in 1966, and it remains my pledge.
Is that a "loyalty pledge?" Yes, it is. I make it because Democrats make our nation, state, and local government more responsive to the needs of the population better than Republicans do. It's pretty simple. I may not agree with the Democrat on the general election ballot on every issue, but I disagree with the Republican on every issue.
I'm loyal to the Democratic Party because it works toward my goals in all areas. Republicans do not. I do not expect instant change. I do not expect a sudden conversion of this nation to the ideals I hold. I expect progress in that direction, and that progress is far more likely with Democrats in the majority than with Republicans.
So, you can count on my vote, Democratic candidates. You can count on my support. You can count on me, even if you're not my ideal candidate for whatever office you're seeking. You can count on me. I am a Democrat.
