That doesn't change the basics: He was an MMA stiff who wasn't going to defeat a skilled boxer, albeit one well past his prime.
A McGregor victory would have been used to declare boxing's inferiority and death. Along those lines I'm glad Mayweather prevailed, despite the character gap between the two.

I loved Muhammad Ali because he took a lot of violence out of boxing, I thought.
